  • Myrtle Beach Visitors and Locals-READ ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM!

  • There is a 24 hour waiting period after applying for your license through the courthouse. Please ensure you allow for this in your planning.

  • For South Carolina residents, outside of Horry County, you may obtain your marriage license from your local courthouse and bring to Myrtle Beach with you. *Please check with your local courthouse to find information about your county's rules and fees.

  • Both persons must appear at the courthouse in order to apply for your license. You can fill out the application right at the office or mail back in for Conway only. Georgetown no longer accepts mail in's.

  • You will need to submit your social security cards, or if applicable, alien identification card (green card) and drivers license. Your applications will not be processed without this information. You do not need to show a previous divorce certificate.

  • You will need to pick up your license in person. Only one person needs to pick up, both are not necessary.

  • Once you have received your license there is no time limit on when you have to get married. The marriage is simply not valid until you have said your vows and paperwork is signed and returned.

  • The copy you keep of your license is NOT your marriage certificate. You will have to purchase one from the courthouse and there is a $5 charge per certificate. There will be instructions with your license on how to order your actual Marriage Certificate. I will provide the information on how to change your name with Social Security and DMV.

  • There are no blood test requirements in the state of South Carolina.
